Today was check in time for the Usurper to see if she has been gaining an appropriate amount of weight for a month old baby. The good news is that she has apparently gained an excellent amount of weight and all those 3am wake ups for booby juice have indeed been worthwhile. Of course she isn’t the only one who has put on weight in the last four weeks, I actually think everyone in the house has. It comes from a combination being constantly exhausted and therefore doing not much more than sitting on the couch when not looking after the two little energy suckers.
Combine that with middle of the night snaking and you can’t help but put some weight on. Personally I have found that peanut butter spread on a biscuit or two combined with a flavoured milk of some kind (ice coffee is preferred though) is just the kind of energy shot I need to still be awake and conscious enough to help with the mid feed nappy change or post booby juice wrap and settle.
I wonder if we are on our way to becominga family of peanut butter eating slothes whose sole exercise is beating a path from the recliner to the fridge to grab another snack.
Maybe it is too late for me, but maybe I can save the children from a life of glottony and excess. Maybe I should get a toddler sized hamster wheel and put a chocolate on a stick for her to chase and chase and chase it as fast as her little legs will carry her but she will never ever be able to get and gobble down, much to her disappointment.
It is the perfect exercise for a toddler, consider the idea to be patented and mine as from now…
Speaking of toddler exercise, here is an interesting website on toddler fitness, is it just me or could you see someone berating their two year old for not being the worldclass athlete that they should be at this age? I know it is well intentioned, but it could get scarey for some. Maybe I should have our toddler up and running laps rather than out and playing?
