Ratty - bad boy for toddler love

Ok, so we took Little Miss the toddler to Banana’s in Pyjamas yesterday and it absolutely rocked! Well it rocked about a much as 7 people in big furry costumes dancing around miming to a backing track can rock, but you know what I mean.

Sure as predicted we were running late, leading to short tempers and frayed nerves. Wife and I speaking to each other through gritted teeth in an attempt to hide our frustration at each others obvious shortcomings. We did manage to make it before the show started and even had time to hit the merchandise stand for the latest DVD and some finger puppets - both of which were pretty well priced for stuff from a merchandise stand.

The best bit was this was the first show we had been too where Little Miss actually got excited beforehand. Her anticipation built up all the day before to the point she was the one screaming at us all to hurry to get there in the morning. So all bodes well for the Christmas Santa frenzy from the toddler this year.

Another big first was that Little Miss actually went down to the toddler ‘mosh pit’ in front of the stage and danced her little heart out with all the other toddlers - luckily we were only 3 rows from the front so we could both watch her closely and yet give her her freedom.

I am still amazed by just how ‘in the moment’ toddlers get and their complete lack of self-consciousness when dancing or singing or playing - it kinda makes me jealous.

About the only downside from the whole event was discovering that my toddlers favorite character is ‘Ratty’ and she just had to have a doll of him after the show that she continuously hugged and pronounced her undying love for.

This is an obvious indication that she has inherited her mothers penchant for the ‘bad boy’ and that does not bode well for the future….

P.s apologies for not responding to emails etc all that quickly at the moment. We are in the midst of an election and I am running on 4 hours sleep a night with not much time for anything - except for my girls and their concerts (I even turned the mobile off for the hour and a half I was there)….

Glad all went off like fireworks!!

My boys watch bananas in Pajamas occasionally and they like the theme song, but no preference for whichever character.

  2. There’s nothing like watching your little girl get down and boogie at a concert. You can’t find anything so cute and comical and whimsical anywhere else and it is so worth the price of the concert tickets to see it.

Sounds like a blast. I would love to take my daughter to a concert, I know she would have a similar reaction.

Gotta love a “tot” mosh pit! LOL!

  4. It would appear that the joy at toddler concerts is universal among parents.

Now if all the other toddlers would just sit still and be quiet, because obviously my child’s behaviour is adorable while theirs aggravating…. lol

I wonder: If you had joined in at the mosh pit… would other parents follow?
