Little Miss the toddler has all of a sudden developed into a bit of a show pony. Her Nanny came from interstate to spend a bit over a week with us, arriving yesterday, as I will hardly been seen around the place for the next 7 days due to work and other commitments.
Anyway, since she arrived Little Miss has been showing off, singing and dancing, going ‘Nanny, nanny, nanny come with me!!’ - all the time.
Even at a bbq yesterday she stunned me by not sitting solely in the background and actually speaking quite a bit around strangers!
So maybe our little wall flower has turned a corner and has decided to take after Wife and not me - Wife definitely being the life of the party while myself generally to be found sitting at home alone on the couch complaining about never even getting an invite to the party.
It is all very cute and adorable and makes me smile too myself as we sit through the Little Teapot song again - I just wonder how long it will be before I find it obnoxious and annoying though?
Poor kids - sometimes I think us parents spend most of our times looking for the downside or potential hazard in any situation rather than just enjoying it all!

You are right!
If the child is boisterous, we worry she becomes too much of a party-animal later in life. If the child is rather reserved, we worry she is a recluse!
But if you do set her expectations & entertain her at home by joining in & dancing with her when her favourite jingle / song comes on, & then dissappoints her when refusing the same in public, what happens to our image??
Hmmm… is this a gender thing? Strangely I find my boys will refuse to perform for others upon request, but will happily do whatever when it’s just Mommy or Grandma and daddy. In fact, Micah will just smile, hide his face and say, “Shy.” While Max will pretend to fall down and splutter.
JLow, it is a very good point that once we become parents our behaviour around our kids is markedly different to how other people are used to seeing once. I well remember the comments after the first time I took Little Miss to work with me one Saturday when we were working on a project.
When Wife came to meet us both there at the end of the day she hung around while I went off to take care of something and afterwards she took great pleasure in telling me how all my work colleagues were bemused to see their boss doing the teapot dance when they are more used to me in agreement negotiations threatening loosing my cool as a ploy in industrial campaigns.
Not sure if it enhanced or damaged their image of me as their boss - lol
Moomykin - I think it should be a parents right to expect their kids to perform on queue so that others are forced to appreciate (or is that endure) our childs undeniable talents! lol
