Toddler party time

While our toddlers birthday was the middle of the week, the party is actually today. So we have spent the last couple of days getting ready for the hordes of family and toddlers that will descend on the house today.

The entire house has been washed with the high pressure washer. The front and back verandas have been washed, scrubbed, rearranged, been laid out for activities and food. All the lawns have been mowed - including the paddock next door which isn’t ours but not mowing it would have ruined the overall aesthetic of the house. Play equipment has been set up and checked for structural weaknesses and the ’swing monitor’ (Pa) has been appointed and trained.

On the food front there are more types of toddler food than could be imagined, we have:
Party Pies, Sausage Rolls, sherbert cones, various types of lollies, chips and the ever popular fairy bread for the kiddies. (Oh and there is some fruits as well - to appease the fun police type parents).
For the adults there are hamburgers, 2 types of chicken kebabs, 3 types of sausages, 4 different salads, various cheeses and dips.

To top off the feast there is of course a birthday cake. This years model is a delicious looking butterfly cake made lovingly over many hours yesterday by Wife. It is such a spectacle that I intend to post a picture of it post party.

Being a child’s party we have to supply a ‘lolly bag’ at the end of the party for each of the kids to take away. The good news is that we are the last of the parties amongst Little Miss’ friends - this has given us the advantage of being able to ensure we have the best lolly bag out of all the parties, but without going way over the top. Hooray for us - we win, and by doing so we have proven that our child is the best and we love her the most - lol.

Well it is time to go and do and final clean and set up before kids start arriving. All I can say is that every child whose party I have suffered through (and suffer is the correct description) better show up so that our child feels loved and adored.

I will probably post the results of the party later on in the day, but for those that want to wish that we have a great time, don’t bother. The day will be filled with stress, anxiety, nervousness and frayed tempers - like all so called joyous occasions (xmas etc). Just say a little prayer that we all survive intact and that Little Miss herself has a good day and that the inevitable meltdown doesn’t happen until after everyone has gone.

Well it wouldn’t be a party without a meltdown. I just pray that my child’s meltdown will be more memorable then my meltdown. :>)
