To cut a long story short, Amy at Memories and Musing of a Mommy tagged SuburbanDaddy for this meme, who then tagged me. I then quickly looked up what a ‘meme’ was on Google and what I was meant to do with it. Luckily for me it has actually meant that I don’t have to think of a topic for a post, although I was struck by just how technologically savvy a toddler can be given that they wander around going ‘mememememememememememe’. But I digress - so here goes:
How long have you been blogging?
Good question - I’m not sure really. Probably close to a year, although a lot of that involved me playing around with things working out what it was I wanted to do. The outcome is the shambolic ramblings that I tend to post here every couple of days or so.
What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors?
Wife had been ’sort of’ blogging for a while in a couple of online forums etc and I had been tempted to blog for a few years to be honest. I could just never really work out what I wanted to blog about or to commit to doing things. Then I just bit the bullet and started blogging about the kids - as much as a way to fill in the time and to assist in my memory - which at my age is beginning to fade. Funnily enough none of my family or friends know that I blog at all (except for Wife who is a snoop) so I don’t really have a mentor as such really. I am purely a very amateurish hobbyist when it comes to this stuff.
Are you trying to make money online, or are you doing it just for fun?
My site is completely ad free, and will probably stay that way for the forseeable future. So it really is just for fun. The only thing I have are some links to things like Blogrush etc - but believe it or not I actually use that myself more as a way to find other blogs than to promote my own. If I was really honest with myself I am just too lazy to actually promote the blog as required in order to generate the traffic to make it worthwhile to have ads. Hell even when I sit down in front of one of the PC’s I tend to just end up pointlessly surfing rather than doing anything constructive.
What 3 things do you love about being online?
1. Finding other people’s blogs and reading them. I am really bad at leaving comments on people’s blogs or even responding to ones left on mine, but I do actually read and enjoy a lot of blogs.
2. I love getting messages from people who read what I have to write. It is a little bizarre at times and I can’t understand why people would want to take the time to write to me, but I love it when they do.
3. I love that the blog reminds me to look at my kids through a special prism and remind myself of all that is fun and wonderful about them (and then twist the truth until it is barely recognisable but far more entertaining.)
What 3 things do you struggle with online?
1. Like everyone I struggle to find the time to do what I would like to and because of that it always feels half done.
2. Not getting distracted by stupid sites or mindless entertainment while online - I always seem to sit down to post and then two hours later I have read heaps about the latest celeb gossip or political machinations.
3. Spam, I hate the amount of spam that exists online and just how pervasive and intrusive it is. At least I hope it is spam and not Wife sending me not so subtle messages about my ‘manhood’ or ‘performance’. Now I am nervous.

I agree pretty much about how our memory fails us through time. Not only that, I am more absentminded than ever before.
I also like the bit about the 3 things you love about being online. I think this is where technology is just fabulous in connecting people. Glad I “met” you and Wife here.
Thanks for completing the meme. You ought to tell your friends and family. Your blog is great.
