Baby is expensive

Stupid (and let’s not forget evil) baby Usurper is the most expensive baby in the world to maintain. She is refusing any processed Heinz food or the like, no cheap, easy to prepare, easy to store stuff for our baby. Instead she is insisting only on fresh fruit and vegies (preferrably whatever isn’t in season), expensive cheeses, $33 a kilo fish or, my personal favorite thing to feed a baby - $45kg eye fillet (that she only gums the juices out of mind you and doesn’t actually eat).

I have worked it out and I pretty sure that the most expensive member of the household when it comes to food is the smallest member of the house. It is probably not helped by Wife’s insistence that the minute something is opened for the baby it has to either be consumed or tossed out in the bin. God forbid our precious eat some leftovers. Whereas I get the leftovers from the toddlers dinner or whatever I can find in the back of the cupboard.

The toddler Little Miss is far cheaper to feed, mainly because she will eat pretty much anything with her two favorite foods being pasta or sausages with some vegies. She has also graduated to that great Australian tradition of Vegemite on toast for breakfast. Very economical indeed, expecially when she eats pretty much everything that is put in front of her (and if she doesn’t then there is nothing surer than I will polish off the leftovers as I carry the plate from the table to the kitchen).

All in all my summary of kids is that they are not cost effective at all. If one of them doesn’t end up starring in some TV commercials soon then I am afraid there will be no option left but to stick one of them on eBay. I am not sure who would bring the best money though, the (mostly) house broken threenager or the still easy to control baby?

The one highlight is that they both still have blue eyes and are therefore likely to bring a premium…..

Haha! When you say “most expensive”, I am assuming it’s a pound-for-pound comparison with the rest of the family members! Or will that be an even more expensive figure??

Well, the only assurance/comfort I can offer is that your baby is getting more natural goodness and less preservatives which could lead to organ damages(brain? liver? kidney?) in future.

    Cheers. :)

  4. @Ann, that’s a good idea - if I give baby’s leftovers to the toddler then there will be more toddler left overs for me!

@Jlow, you are correct in assuming it was pound for pound - if it was overall cost then that would probably be the toddler (if you include the food that finds it’s way to the floor!)

@Moomykin, if there are no preservatives she may rot! lol
