It is official, we are off to the Big Room (not to be confused with the big house) at daycare. Little Miss has finally graduated from the little kids room to the big kids room because there is a vacancy.

It was a close run thing as the daycare people were reticent to allow her to progress because of her unwillingness to utter a sound in the presence of anyone other than immediate family and a couple of her little friends and their mothers. There are people who are convinced that she is mute and they are always startled whenever she utters a sound. And to be completely honest they almost drop over dead when she comes out with something that is beyond her years (or drops the F bomb), and they utter a disbelieving ‘I had no idea she had such a large vocabulary!’ (Proud Daddy Alert).

So we have decided that in an attempt to address her non speaking ways we have gone the way all good parents do - we have offered her a bribe. We have spent the last couple of days reminding her that she can talk to the people at daycare like she does myself and Wife, and talking about how interesting and fun it is to talk to people and find out new things.

To top it off we have promised her the one thing every little girl desires the most in the world, that’s right ladies and gentleman, we have promised Little Miss her very own weapon!

She has decided that she wants a sword like some of the little boys and we have told her we will get her one if she talks at daycare (in deference to her baby sister Usurper who is likely to be on the receiving end of the odd thrust and parry we will make sure it is a nerf sword).

Personally I think it is a double edged sword encouraging her to speak to people when we are out etc. because she is hard enough to get to shut up around the house as it is ……….
