It is a moment I have been dreading for quite some time now - the time when Little Miss starts asking the obvious pertinent question that will eventually drive both Wife and I insane, ‘Why?’.
Not just once or twice, not just in context, but repeatedly and incessantly. The answer to any question is currently being […]
Do you ever get the feeling that one of your main roles as a parent is to just try and not completely screw up your kids?
More and more I am coming to the reluctant conclusion that this is a major part of being a parent. Sure you have to teach them the skills needed to […]
Little Miss has started inventing words to describe things in her world that she doesn’t yet have a proper word yet. I don’t mean nonsensical sounds like babies make, but full blown words.Perhaps the best example is the way she describes a CD she has that skips a little (toddler finger prints are not good […]

Read Bad Daddy »In yet another episode that makes me question whether I am seriously cut out for the fatherhood gig that I have taken on someone has sent me a link to a website and as wrong as I know it is I just can’t take it seriously.
The website www.fatherhood.org is for an organisation that sets out to provide valuable training, information and other resources for fathers.
I know this is a worthwhile cause, I know this is a much needed resource and of great value in the community where so many men (myself included at times) struggle with what it means to be a father. But the more I read of it, the more I think of that Simpsons episode when Homer takes the test from the National Fatherhood Institute or whatever it is called - you know the one, when he and Bart end up building the boxcar together.
Actually if I was completely honest I would have to confess that I have received most of my parenting advice from Homer Simpson, Al Bundy and Hank Hill, hmmmm ………….. maybe I should give that website a second look after all.
