Little Miss, the toddler who rules the house, has made her first friend!!
I don’t mean that she has been a overcoat wearing loner until now, I’m sure that is coming in her teens though, it’s just that this friend is one she has made all by herself. She is not one of the groups of [...]
The toddler party was not a disaster after all!
As much as it surprises me to admit it, the toddler’s little party went off without much of a hitch at all. There were no real meltdowns to speak of by anyone that was there - neither child nor adult. It even managed not to rain for [...]
While our toddlers birthday was the middle of the week, the party is actually today. So we have spent the last couple of days getting ready for the hordes of family and toddlers that will descend on the house today.
The entire house has been washed with the high pressure washer. The front and back verandas [...]
Little Miss the toddler today graduated from toddlerhood and became a fully fledged ‘threenager’ - that’s right she officially turned three.
We were awoken at 7:00am by a bang on the door and a declaration of, “It’s my birthday, I turned three”. Which was followed moments later by a knock at the spare room [...]
According to the toddler Little Miss the member of our family most like Homer isn’t me but my wife. I discovered this after returning from yet another toddler party and put on the Simpsons in an attempt to settle my shattered nerves. When an commercial came on in the middle of the show Little Miss [...]
Read My wife is Homer J Simpson - apparently »According to the toddler Little Miss the member of our family most like Homer isn’t me but my wife. I discovered this after returning from yet another toddler party and put on the Simpsons in an attempt to settle my shattered nerves. When an commercial came on in the middle of the show Little Miss demanded ‘bring back Homer’ (she isn’t used to commercials as they are banned from being shown during the shows she normally watches).
When Wife asked if she liked Homer she giggled and said yes. Wife then followed up with what she believed would be a clever question - Who does Homer remind you of?
Of course she was expecting the answer to be ‘Daddy’ - given I have no hair, round head, yellow skin and a middle aged spread. But no, she was greated with “mummy”. Hahaha, apparently it has nothing to do with looks and a lot to do with explosive outbursts and temper. It still cracks me up
I am apparently like Grover from Sesame Street - who I can’t picture but according to Wikipedia.org can be described as thus:
“Grover is a friendly, very likable, childlike Muppet in the children’s television show Sesame Street.
He is without a trace of guile. His character is multi-talented, taking
on many different roles and professions throughout the series run.”
and “Grover displays a wide array of eloquent and erudite articulation, suggesting a high level of education and sophistication”
I can see the similarities……..
On the other front we have been to far too many toddler parties for my liking of late. I will be perfectly honest here, I don’t like parties - of any kind, full stop, end of sentence.
However I tolerate toddler parties for Little Miss’ sake and so that she isn’t left out of things - once social recluse is enough for any family and I fill that spot nicely thank you. But the next one will be special, because it will be her third birthday in 11 days and her party will be on the following Sunday.
Of course I have seen all the other parties by now as she is the youngest in her group of friends I believe. So now I know what the standard is as far as food and entertainment goes. So I have a choice to make:
- I can completely blow away all the competition with a feast that will make the toddlers sick for days and entertainment that won’t be topped until college graduation. I am thinking pony rides, a reptile petting zoo, and a third rate performer of some kind. Maybe a Wiggle cover band - if they exist.
- I could just give each kid some left over Christmas chocolate, a McDonalds happy meal and put Dora the Explorer on the TV.
I wonder which way it will go. The one thing I know for sure though is Wife will obsess over the cake and come up with something special.
