7 year itch

This post has little to do with the kids, although I guess it has everything to do with the kids.
Today is the seventh anniversary for Wife and I - So I thought I would say a public ‘I love you, and thank you for two wonderful children, a wonderful relationship, and some OK times […]

Cinderella needs a fella

Wife is a little bent out of shape at the moment because Little Miss’ favorite bedtime story is Cinderella. Being a staunch feminist this is apparently a terrible thing for my wife to face up to. She is convinced that such fairy tales are bad because they teach women that all they need in their […]

The plague has passed

Well the plague has finally been lifted from the house, and everyone appears to be well - well about as well as can be expected (yay - 5 wells in one sentence).
In other exciting news Usurper has been kicked to the curb and is now in her own room. Sure the process was a nightmare […]

Usurper is sick - has been for the last 3 days. It started late one night with a little spew, and then it continued for the whole night every 1-2 hours.

Then she was fine for a day, but sadly the spew has returned. I have to admit not even the cutest of toddlers can make vomit seem adorable. That first night we went through 3 changes of cot sheets, 3 sleeping bags, 2 changes of clothes for Usurper and 2 for wife. Oh what fun we had.

But the one thing that does amaze me about babies when they are sick is how quickly they tend to bounce back. For example Usurper threw up her pumpkin soup after dinner tonight (not that she ate much). Then for about 2 minutes while we cleaned up she sat there kind of crying and sobbing, but not more than 5 minutes later she was up running around and believe it or not laughing.

Now on the other hand if I am sick I just want to be left alone. I just want to lie on a couch somewhere, preferably within sight of the telly, and be left the hell alone. Don’t talk to me, don’t try and help me, don’t ask me every hour how I am feeling, just leave me alone to wallow. Oh, and this is vitally important, don’t offer advise or try and discuss with me the cause, I don’t care about the cause I just know I am sick, and I don’t need your advise unless you have a medical degree.

I am a real curmudgeon when sick lol

But not Usurper, not even vomit soaked clothes will get her to sit still …. oh to be young again
